We’re right in the thick of engagement season ? a ‘thing’ that happens every year over the holidays. Apparently, according to the announcements flooding our Facebook feeds, the end or start of a year is the perfect time to propose. Families are gathered for Christmas, expat friends are reunited, everyone’s up for a Champagne, or two. Why not throw an engagement party into the mix?
Well, it’s a phenomenon that blesses celebrities too, so we’re bringing you up to speed on the celebrity engagements that happened over the holidays. (ICYMI on social media.)
Shanina Shaik and DJ Ruckus
After seven months of dating, Australian Victoria’s Secret model Shanina Shaik and DJ Ruckus (real name: Greg Andrews) announced their engagement via the traditional ‘I said yes’ Instagram post while on holiday in the Maldives. In Shaik’s words: #loveofmylife #mrsandrews #heputaringonit #togetherforever. The couple started dating shortly after 24-year-old Shaik and her long-term boyfriend Tyson Beckford called it quits.
Garance Doré and Chris Norton
French blogger, writer and photographer Garance Doré is engaged to jazz singer and trumpeter Chris Norton. Finishing off an editor’s letter on her website, Doré wrote: “And on that note, here’s the news (I mean, it left me totally speechless)(for hours)(I still haven’t processed it): Yesterday, Chris asked me to MARRY HIM!!! I said YES!!! 2016 is the year I’m going to get married!!!” Expect more details from Doré ? she’s currently on a beach in Mexico ? when work and wedding planning resumes as normal.
Anna Camp and Skylar Astin
Pitch Perfect fans rejoice! The film’s co-stars Anna Camp and Skylar Astin, who play Aubrey Posen and Jesse Swanson respectively, got engaged in Hawaii after dating for a few years. Astin first asked Camp on a date after she having had gone through a divorce. “But I was like, “You know what? OK! Let’s do it, let’s see.” He’s literally my best friend,” she told Glamour in 2014 about their first date. We hope they’re planning an a cappella performance at this real life Bella-Treblemaker wedding.
Tory Burch and Pierre-Yves Roussel
Tory Burch, founder of the self-titled billion-dollar empire, and Pierre-Yves Roussel, chairman and chief executive officer of LVMH Fashion Group, are tying the knot, Burch announced on Instagram while in Antigua. The couple has been dating since June 2014. This will be Burch’s third marriage (her marriage to Chris Burch ended in 2006 although the exes were involved in a very public lawsuit in 2012). Now to the burning question: will Burch design her own bridal gown or will she call upon one of the labels under Roussel’s umbrella, such as Céline, Givenchy, Loewe or Pucci?
